NSW Hand Brake Machine Chinese Railway Wagons Manual Brake Device

1. Brief introductions:

NSW type hand brake machine is applicable to all kinds of railway freight wagons for parking or shunting.

The hand brake machine of the NSW type consists of several key components, including the casing, base, hand wheel, speed control handle, driving shaft, chain winding shaft, and a locking mechanism. On the hand wheel, there are labels showing the ‘ON’ and ‘OFF’ positions. You can find the nameplate located on the casing.

2.Main technical features:

• TO TURN ON: Rotate the speed control handle to the right, and turn the hand wheel clockwise to create and sustain braking force.
• TO TURN OFF: Keep the speed control handle in a fixed position and turn the hand wheel counterclockwise by about 40°. This will disengage the hand brake. The force needed to release it is approximately half of the braking input torque.
• TO SLOW DOWN: Spin the speed control handle counterclockwise until it's horizontal. At this point, the spine tongue will not function. If needed, you can turn the hand wheel clockwise to engage the brake and counterclockwise to disengage it at any time.
• The brake has a locking mechanism that operates with a triangle key. To secure the hand brake, rotate the locking tab on the bottom left of the case clockwise after braking until the key cannot move. This will activate the lock function. To deactivate the lock and resume operation, turn the key counterclockwise.
