1. Brief introduction:

No.17 coupler is the main couplers for 70T railway freight wagons in China. It is designed according to AAR S117-67 ‘F Type Interlock coupler profile’.

2. Main features of No.17 coupler:

  • The No.17 coupler can connect with the 13B coupler, No. 16 coupler, AAR E, AAR E/F, and AAR F couplers.
  • Crafted from high-strength low alloy Grade E, the No.17 coupler has minimum static tensile failure loads of 4005kN for the body and 3430kN for the knuckle.
  • To enhance the train's longitudinal dynamic performance and reduce impact during operation, the free clearance between the profiles of connected couplers is maintained at 9.5mm.
  • The No.17 coupler meets the TB/T 456 standard requirements.
  • Designed with an interlocking mechanism and an anti-disengagement feature, the No.17 coupler prevents accidental disengagement and strengthens the connection. Its hook body features a combination of a spherical surface and a protruding shoulder, along with a vertical circular pin and coupler yoke that facilitate automatic centering and smooth curve navigation. Additionally, the locking pin mechanism ensures reliable anti-jump performance and adaptability
